As the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and that’s where we find ourselves — staring into winter abyss with just the memories of summer to keep us warm. Unless that is, you’re heading out to give Ibiza 2019 the send off it deserves — along with bells, whistles, streamers, glitter and any other props you can get your hands on. Because to paraphrase another well-known saying, it’s not over till the fat lady sings and she’s got plenty of breath left in her yet. Take a big gulp of air and prepare yourselves for this season’s final stretch — it’s going to be one to remember.
Paradise, DC10 — 2 October
The beginning of October signals the end of Paradise’s Wednesday night rein at DC10 for this season. But never ones to leave the party quietly, Jamies Jones and co have roped in a starstudded line-up for the final farewell. Loco Dice, Nicole Moudaber, Alan Fitzpatrick b2b Richy Ahmed, DJ Sneak and Latmun are just a few of the names propping up the bill, and with a reputation for hosting some of the most raucous closing fiestas of any party on the island, this one should take pole position on your schedule.
Afterlife, Hï Ibiza — 3 October
There are few parties that manage to cram as many world class headliners onto its weekly line-up as Afterlife. Fusing talent from Life & Death, Innervisions, Dystopian and Afterlife Records, it creates a dark, cavernous cave in which to immerse yourself in a sweet, velvety blanket of techno. For the season finale on Thursday 3 October, Adriatique, Agents of Time, Maceo Plex, Stephan Bodzin, Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann all join Tale of Us on a mission to propel you through winter with a bang.
Transmoderna, Pacha — 4 October
Dixon’s long-awaited residency debut has been well received at Pacha, where his mesmerising ability to bend genres and hypnotise crowds has found the perfect home. For the closing party on Friday 4 October, the Berlin-based maestro will weave an immersive wall of sounds all night long in the main room, while Pvblic Xcess takes over in the funky room. Expect music conjured from outside your comfort zones.
F*** Me I’m Famous, Hï Ibiza— 4 October
It caused shockwaves across the island when David Guetta announced he’d be leaving Pacha for Hï Ibizaat the start of this year, but it was a bold move that’s injected new life into an entrenched Ibiza favourite. Joining the big man for the farewell celebrations on Friday 4 October are Bob Sinclar, JP Candela and Daddy’s Grove, as well as Idris Elba, Ferreck Dawn and Paul Reynolds. Season one at his new Playa d’en Bossa residence, signed, sealed and delivered.
Ushuaia closing party — Saturday 5 October
Thousands upon thousands of ravers have danced beneath the stars at Ushuaia over the course of summer, and the most hardcore of them all will reconvene on Saturday 5 October for the venue’s closing fiesta. Featuring a line-up of the world’s finest selectors, tunes will come courtesy of Andrea Oliva, Paul Kalkbrenner, The Black Madonna, The Martinez Brothers and Joseph Capriati — which makes this party one of the most anticipated of the season. See you down the front.
Amnesia closing party — Saturday 5 October
One of the biggest hitters of closing party season has announced a line-up that’s hard to beat. Headliners included Ricardo Villalobos b2b Luciano, Kölsch, Patrick Topping, and Archie Hamilton on the terrace, while Nina Kraviz, ANNA and Marco Faraone prepare to dish out a pounding in the main room. Well worth sticking in your calendars in bold marker pen, it all kicks off on Saturday 5 October.
Black Coffee, Hï Ibiza— Saturday 5 October
Now established as one of the island’s biggest names, Black Coffee has become a must-see for any discerning raver descending on the white isle. That makes this particular closing party on Saturday 5 October one of the hottest tickets in town. The South African superstar is joined by the likes of Blond:ish, Lauren Lo Sung as well as a slew of talent from his homeland. Just make sure you’re planted firmly in front of the man himself as the morning draws in.
Glitterbox, Hï Ibiza— Sunday 6 October
For a swirly, twirly journey through the depths of disco and funk there’s nowhere better than Hï Ibiza on a Sunday night, when the Glitterbox crew go about weaving their initimitable spell on a crowd of adoring dancers. For the final shindig on Sunday 6 October, a star-studded line-up featuring Fatboy Slim, Louie Vega, Roger Sanchez, and Dimitri from Paris have been drafted in. Guaranteed to be a sparkling, high-kicking night full of mischief.
Octan closing party — Sunday 6 October
Making a name for itself on the site formerly known as Sankeys, Octan has had a slowly building stonker of a year. It all culminates on Sunday 6 October with a stellar closing party line-up that includes Steve Lawler, Darius Syrossian, Apollonia, Chelina Manuhutu and far too many others to list. Seeing out the year with a bang, no doubt this party will keep Octan in everyone’s minds as it embarks on its second summer next year.
Circoloco, DC10 — Monday 7 October
There are few parties that deserve genuine iconic status but Circoloco at DC10 is one that’s genuinely earned its stripes. That means that for the closing party on Monday 7 October, any raver with sense will get down to the Salinas venue in time to party alfresco in the garden till the sun disappears into the clouds. As ever, the line-up is firmly under wraps but history dictates that it’s sure to be a scorcher.
Music On, Pacha — Thursday 10 October & Friday 11 October
One closing party simply isn’t enough for one of the world’s most influential DJs, so to mark the end of Music On’s tenure at new home, Pacha, there are two monumental fiestas planned. The first gives devotees exactly what they want — Marco Carola all night long, while the second draws in regulars Paco Osuna and Serge Devant. Expect a relentless tech house soundtrack and wall to wall chanting the name of one of Ibiza’s most iconic parties.
Solomun, Pacha — Sunday 13 October
The big man draws yet another successful Pacha season to a close on Sunday 13 October, when he’s mixing up the formula by inviting multiple names from the keinemusik label to join him rather than his usual solitary plus one. Rampa, &ME and Adam Port have all signed up for the gig, so will be sliding in behind the decks at different times throughout the night. A fitting end to the season for a party that still grows in popularity year on year.
