Set atop the soaring cliffs of Cap Martinet, with stunning panoramic views towards Ibiza town in one direction and the tiny island of Formentera in the other, Destino Ibiza is a venue of many faces. Loved by the glamour-loving jet-set, this beautifully designed space is busy every day of the week – by day, filled with sun-lovers chilling by the pool, by night, with party-goers eager to see their favourite international DJs in action.
Throughout summer, a host of the world’s biggest electronic stars take to the spectacular stage at Destino Ibiza. From Marco Carola to Guy Gerber to Luciano, you can catch host of huge names creating the perfect sunshine-fuelled, Balearic soundtrack, and sometimes entrance to the venue is free. Capitalise on this by supersizing on Champagne instead, and you’ll soon find yourself living the luxury, VIP life you’ve always dreamed of.
Owned by the world-famous Pacha Group, Destino first opened its glamorous gates in 2013 and unsurprisingly, given the clubbing kudos of its mother brand, a jaw-dropping location and a promise to deliver some of the best open-air parties on the island there was much anticipation surrounding the venue. And when guests eventually started filing in, it didn’t disappoint – people were blown away by the resort’s chicly stylish design and luxury hotel rooms and – once the gig calendar had kicked off – the calibre of DJ at the helm of each show.
Since then, Destino has gone on to host some of the biggest names on the planet, with labels like Diynamic and Cocoon repeatedly choosing the venue’s visual charms to showcase an altogether different vibe for their parties, not to mention one-off performances from a string of other top class talent including Jamie Jones, the Martinez Brothers and DJ Koze who all relish playing as the midsummer sun bears down on the bodies of the bronzed and beautiful crowd. These days, parties are less frequent than in the past, but that succeeds in making each daytime session all the more special.
The good news is that once the sun’s disappeared and the outside speakers have come to a halt, the action continues in Destino’s exclusive basement club, Tox, a small, cavernous space perfectly suited for long, delirious nights, and ideal if you’re not quite ready for the party to finish. There’s also an excellent onsite restaurant serving perfectly executed plates of food that’s often accompanied by chandelier-swinging, aerial entertainment. Book yourselves in for dinner on a gig night, take a table at sunset and then dive straight into a sonic sensation for the ears, this venue really is the ultimate feast for the senses.
Distinguishing features: The unashamedly sexy infinity pool overlooking the majestic walls of Dalt Vila in the distance (reserve a sunbed here and then stay from morning till night), the spectacular outdoor stage often graced by the best in the business, Tox – possibly Ibiza’s only underground club – where the music continues once the stars have come out.
