If you have visited Ibiza before, you will be familiar with the breathtaking and world famous sunsets that we are lucky enough to see every evening. Those very sunsets are the reason that many people choose to head back to the Island every year. But watching the Ibiza Sunset is not just reserved for Cafe Mambo and the party scene. There are thousands of beautiful viewpoints around the island that serve the purpose of admiring that view. And what better way to celebrate a marriage than with the romantic background of the pastel pinks and purples of the setting Ibiza sun. Anna and Andrew did just that. Read on to discover how we helped them create the most perfect backdrop to their special day.
Luxury Hotel & Sunset Villa
Style
Every wedding has different requirements, and the main requirement of Andrew and Anna was the WOW factor! They wanted to treat their guests to the very best of Ibizas natural beauty, with a luxurious thread woven through every detail.
Venue
If you are yet to discover the stunning backdrop of the amphitheatre at the Hacienda hotel- you are seriously missing out! This heavenly location makes the perfect setting for a wedding- pure romance and magic. Anna and Andrew knew that this was the venue for them the moment they turned the corner out of the hotel and saw the views of the Hacienda- it was exactly what they had been looking for.
The sun sets over the top of the cliffs just across from the edge of the amphitheatre. When the sun begins to set the sky is lit up with the most beautiful pastel hues. From up in the amphitheatre, the sky and the sea meet in a perfect unity of colours to create an unbelievably romantic effect.
Anna and Andrew chose to use the Hacienda hotel for their ceremony and wedding breakfast, and when it was time to party, they headed back to their private villa. This enabled them to get exactly the ceremony and dinner that they wanted, with the flexibility of having the party at their own accommodation- on their own terms.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place in the amphitheatre of the Hacienda. A beautifully unusual set up where guests are seated on white cushions lining the steps that are expertly moulded into the side of the cliff. The guests look down on the happy couple and of course the stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. This venue is also perfect at sunset, where the skies turn wonderful shades of purple pink and orange.
There are many different options available for celebrants, and in the case of Anna and Andrew, they decided to enlist the help of a close friend to guide them through their ceremony.
Catering
After the ceremony, the couple and their guests made their way up onto the rooftop where they were served canapes and refreshing drinks (including some personalised cocktails) They were serenaded by an acoustic guitar and vocalist whilst still enjoying the very best views as the sun began its descent into the sea.
Dinner was served across round banquet tables in the hotels banqueting terrace. This room lends itself perfectly to weddings as it is nicely tucked away but still boasts those- oh so important- views.
The menu was created specifically for Anna and Andrew to match their tastes and budget. Anna is a vegetarian and many of her friends are s well, so the chef worked closely with her to create a special vegetarian menu that was absolutely bursting with local flavour.
The Party
After the desert was finished and the final toast had been raised, the guests were escorted to the front of the hotel, where a convoy of luxury minibuses were waiting for them. The buses took the guests to Anna and Andrews private villa which was a 20 minute journey away.
All in great spirits, the couple and the guests arrived back to the villa to find that the Taste Ibiza team had been busy squirrelling away and decorating the villa. The idea was to create a fairytale wonderland which seemed like a completely different place to where they had been staying for the last few days.
We created feature walls using spotlights and highlighted some of the gardens beauty with up lighters and festoon lighting.
Fairy lights had been woven throughout all of the trees and shrubbery to create a magical ambience and hanging decorating had been added to the trees.
There was a DJ playing and a cocktail bar set up service ice cold cocktails ready for when everyone arrived back.
Unforgettable Moment
One of Annas favourite things about coming to Ibiza is watching the famous Lovely Laura perform one of her sunset saxophone sets. Over the years she had been to numerous venues to watch Laura play. As a surprise for his new wife. Andrew had booked Lovely Laura and Ben Santiago to perform at their wedding. So as the sun finally set over the hills, Laura appeared and began to play. Ben took over the decks and together they played an amazing sunset performance just for the happy couple. Needless to say Anna was blown away and so happy! It was a really special moment to see her face when she realised what was happening.
After the wedding
The wedding carried on into the small hours of the night, so we were expecting some sore heads. We had planned ahead of course and booked one of our favourite brunch chefs to come into he villa and have a buffet breakfast prepared for the guests of the villa when they woke up. After a few bloody mary’s the guys were feeling almost human again!
After a chilled morning round the villa, the rest of the wedding guests bang to arrive back at the villa for the pool party.
Anna and Andrew had decided to go for a hearty Paella, elegantly cooked on show by a local chef. They began the party with some chilled background music which was soon replaced by a DJ. Everyone found their party spirit again and after some food and some more drinks, everyone was back on the dancefloor again- The hangovers could wait one more day!
